Drinks on the Water

Not everyone wants a sit-down dinner, and that's fine. The Sundowner cruise is about a cold drink, good company, and the best sunset view in Darwin. Board at 5pm, cruise out into the sunset, and be back by 8pm.

Perfect for couples, groups, or anyone who just wants a taste of the harbour without the full four course meal. Feel free to bring your own platter.

The Best Seat on the Harbour

The Cape Adieu is a 70-foot former working vessel with three open deck areas, so there's room to find your spot — up top in the breeze, out on the bow, or back near the bar. No crowding into a tour boat, no fighting for a view. Just the harbour opening up around you as the city lights come on.

Darwin's west-facing harbour gives you the kind of sunset the Top End is known for, and from the water there's nothing in the way of it. The licensed bar's open the whole cruise — grab a cold one and watch the sky do its thing.

Sundowner Cruise FAQs

What's included in the $99?

Your three-hour evening cruise on the harbour from 5pm to 8pm, aboard the MV Cape Adieu with its three open decks and the best sunset view in Darwin. There's a licensed bar on board where you can buy drinks — the ticket covers the cruise, not the drinks.

Is there food, and can we bring our own?

The Sundowner is a drinks cruise rather than a sit-down dinner, but you're welcome to bring your own platter to share. If you'd like the full four-course meal, that's the dinner cruise instead.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

No — the boat is licensed, so all drinks are bought from the bar on board. You can bring your own food platter, but not your own alcohol.

How long is it and what time does it leave?

Three hours, boarding at 5pm and back at the wharf by 8pm, timed to put you out on the water for the sunset. We'll confirm boarding details when you book.

When do they run?

Sundowner cruises run select evenings through the dry season, roughly April to October. Check the live calendar when you book, or get in touch for group dates.

Is it good for groups?

Yes — it suits couples and groups alike, and the three decks give larger groups room to spread out. For exclusive use of the whole boat, have a look at our private and special-occasion charters.
